Golf Course Marketing Personal Development Plan

Personal development plans (PDP’s) can serve as a compass in your personal development/growth. I speak all of the time about growing your golf career, but without having a personal development plan, it is impossible for you to grow your golf career or grow as a person. I have an appetite for knowledge that will never be fulfilled and I hope you share this love of learning as well.

There are numerous facets of our life we must work on to become better people. Growth is not just for your golf career but you should also be thinking about growing as a father, a brother, a sister, an uncle, aunt, mother, etc. You should focus on growing in areas of your faith, community, health and fitness, etc., as a part of your personal development plan.

It’s sad to say, but most people spend very little time working on becoming a better person, better employee, better boss, better friend, etc. I read somewhere in the past, 90% of all books purchased go unread beyond the first chapter; to me, that is a travesty. When someone would spend their hard earned capital and not take advantage of the experienced people who write books and are willing to share is beyond my comprehension. Although sometimes, a book is not always as great as you had hoped; you can still learn something valuable from it, even if it is only one thing. Every book I have read, I have always gotten at least one valuable thing from it.

Again, I am a little different because I always look for what I can learn about this or what I can learn from that. A long time ago, I learned to ask myself great questions and in everything I do I am always asking myself the question, “What can I learn from this?” whether it is a negative or a positive experience.

Take some time, find a quiet place and start putting together your own personal development plan by looking over all areas of your life whether it is social, economic, educational, emotional, etc., and see where you are and where you want to be. Design a plan, then take action. Your plan is not always going to work out the way you first set it up, so you should be willing to adjust along the way but remember to never lose focus of your goal.

Design your own personal development plan and you will grow your golf course the game and your golf career.
