Golf Marketing Taglines and Slogans

A tagline defined by is a variant of a branding slogan typically used in marketing materials and advertising. The idea behind the concept is to create a memorable phrase that will sum up the tone and premise of a brand or product, or to reinforce the audience’s memory of a product. Some taglines are successful enough to warrant inclusion in popular culture, for example, Nike’s “Just do it”.

A couple of examples of taglines that we tend to remember is Apple’s tagline which is “Think different”, and MMC®’s “Driving up golf revenue”.

The tagline’s main purpose is to help the golf course market products and services to a certain demographic. It should be a brief phrase that sums up what they do and what they want their brand to say.

Taglines should not be confused with slogans. Slogans are phrases to make the golfer feel safe and secure with the golf course, golf products and golf services. For example, MMC®’s slogan is “The marketing company that hits ‘em straight”, Allstate’s “You’re in good hands with Allstate”, and United Airlines’ “Fly the friendly skies of United”, etc.

Unlike taglines, slogans are sometimes changed. Although, it is my personal opinion that once you have created a slogan that truly represents your brand you should never change it unless absolutely necessary.

Consistency is paramount in building a brand or your golf career and/or for your golf course. Even as a golf professional, you want to come up with a tagline that sums up the tone and premise of your brand.

When golfers think of ways to improve their game you want your name to be at the forefront of their mind.
